Crisis Response & Child Protection Policy

This workshop will share real-life situational response to crisis, lessons learned, and best practices. We will also cover Child Protection Policy and Procedures to help mitigate crisis in the realm of child safety. We will speak from our experience navigating response to abuse allegations within our congregation, including care for victims, congregation, staff, and the accused. We will share ways that the church has responded to better implement Child Protection Policy and Procedures in all areas of church life.

Both Kara and Ruth Anne have gone through training in writing Child Protection Policies and have helped write and implement the policies currently used at St. Matthew’s UMC in Annandale. Additionally, both have attended and continue to seek out trainings to make sure policies and practices are current in the congregations they now serve.
